WC Evans & Sons Ltd were recently appointed to deliver a new reception area, waiting space and administration offices at the entrance to Uplands Academy. The existing reception facilities were located too far from the main school gates, presenting challenges for both access and safeguarding. The aim of this project was therefore to create a welcoming and secure point of entry for staff, pupils, and visitors, while improving operational efficiency within the school’s administration areas.

The works involved a combination of structural, fabrication and construction activities, all carried out within a live school environment. WC Evans & Sons Ltd were responsible for supporting the existing structure, installing new structural steelwork, and erecting a timber frame building finished with brick slip cladding to complement the existing architecture.

Internally, the team carried out substantial remodelling to form a modern and efficient reception, waiting area and office space. In addition, new metal security fencing and gated access control systems were installed around the site to enhance safety and safeguarding standards.

The completed project has provided the school with a contemporary, practical and secure facility that meets modern standards and provides an improved experience for visitors and staff alike.
