Steel Balcony Balustrading

Project Overview
Background
WC Evans & Sons Ltd were appointed by a main contractor to provide replacement balcony balustrading as part of a refurbishment programme to a social housing residential block. The existing balustrading had reached the end of its usable lifespan and no longer complied with current Building Regulation requirements. The project required a robust and fully compliant replacement system that would improve safety while also providing a long-lasting, low-maintenance solution for the client.
Solution Provided
WC Evans & Sons Ltd were involved from an early stage in the project, working collaboratively with the main contractor to develop a suitable replacement solution. Our team provided the full design package including detailed fabrication drawings and structural engineer input, complete with design checks and calculations to ensure full compliance with Building Regulations.
The new balustrading system was fabricated from steel and finished with a durable powder coated coating to provide a corrosion-resistant and future maintenance-free product. The design incorporates 3mm thick steel sheet infill panels, providing a robust solution that meets Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) compliance requirements.
The completed installation delivers a safe, compliant and visually improved balcony system while ensuring long-term durability for this social housing development.
