WC Evans & Sons Ltd were appointed to provide replacement balustrading as part of a balcony upgrade programme to a social housing block at Orchard Way, East Grinstead.

The existing balustrading was non-conforming and required replacement with a new solution that would fully comply with current Building Regulations. The works encompassed both the front communal balconies and rear private balconies, requiring a carefully considered design that would meet the practical and aesthetic requirements of the development.

WC Evans & Sons Ltd were involved from an early stage, developing the design for the new replacement balustrading and producing detailed fabrication drawings for the main contractor. These were also provided to support the planning approval process prior to fabrication and installation.

The new steel balustrading was designed to provide a safe, compliant and aesthetically pleasing solution across both the communal and private balcony areas. A durable powder-coated finish was specified to provide long-term protection and minimise future maintenance requirements.

The completed installation has significantly improved the appearance and safety of the balconies while providing a robust, compliant and low-maintenance solution for this social housing development.
